October has ended. We can't find a Deliveroo robot delivery.
Deliveroo's Canary Wharf robots were due 'this October' and we can find no report of one delivering. Plus: the G1 humanoid gets £3,400 cheaper at Scan, and Tesla's driver assist reaches ten countries.
A month ago Deliveroo promised robots on the pavements of Canary Wharf by the end of October. This week we went looking for one. Elsewhere, a British retailer cut the price of a humanoid robot, and Tesla’s driver assist reached its tenth European country. Britain is still not one of them.
The lead: Deliveroo’s October robots
On 5 October Deliveroo and Coco Robotics announced that robot deliveries would start around Wood Wharf in Canary Wharf “this October”, carrying orders from Patty&Bun, Signorelli and Beam. Milton Keynes, Leeds, Stockton on Tees and Nottingham would follow “in the coming weeks and months”.
October is now over. Deliveroo’s announcement has no update, and Coco’s blog has nothing since the partnership post. We found no press report of a robot completing a customer order. Neither company has given a new date. Everything we could find about the robots still uses the future tense.
Not finding a report doesn’t prove there were no deliveries, and a quiet soft launch is possible. But this board counts what companies can show, and on that basis the October promise is now scored as missed in the Slip Index. If Deliveroo or Coco shows us a robot delivering an order in October, we’ll change the score and say so here. The Deliveroo robots entry stays “due” for now. Neither company has called it off, so for the moment it’s late rather than cancelled.
What it means for you: if you run a takeaway around Wood Wharf, ask your Deliveroo contact when robot orders will start and how they will be charged. Nobody has said so publicly. If you want robot deliveries today, Starship robots are already delivering through Co-op, Uber Eats and Just Eat in parts of Leeds, Sheffield, Milton Keynes, Cambridgeshire and other areas. Check the app at checkout to see whether it covers your postcode.
Shipped
- A cheaper humanoid, and a dearer small one. When we checked Scan on 1 November, the Unitree G1 was £17,599.99 including VAT and marked “low stock”. A week earlier it was £20,999.99, and the new price is also below last year’s £18,999 Black Friday deal. The small R1 Air went the other way, from £4,799.99 to £5,599.99, and it is still on pre-order only. Three of the R1 education versions are now in stock. Scan doesn’t say why the prices moved. These robots are still for classrooms and demos, not housework.
- Still out of stock: the Roborock Saros Z70 is £1,599 on Roborock’s UK store and still “Out of stock, coming soon!”. That’s four checks in a row.
- One offer gone, one still running. Fergus has removed the “90% off” banner from its UK pricing page. Essentials is back at its listed price, from £39 a month. Microsoft 365 Copilot Business is still £13.80 per user per month, ex VAT, for the first year on annual sign-ups until 31 December, against a standard £16.10.
Due in
- Snap Specs: specs.com still says the glasses are available to pre-order in the US, UK and France, with no shipping date and no sterling price. The “this fall” promise runs out on 30 November, four weeks from today.
- 1X NEO: 1X’s order page still says “US Deliveries start 2026”. We have still found no independent report of a NEO in a paying customer’s home. The US promise has eight weeks left, and the UK has never been named.
- Meta VR Glasses: the UK page still says “Coming early 2027”, with no UK price.
Delayed
- Driverless pilots: still no permit reported for a passenger service with nobody at the wheel. The government’s “later this year” has eight weeks left. Uber and Pony.ai’s London testing, announced on 8 October for “the coming weeks”, still hasn’t been reported as started.
- Waymo London: no date, no fares and no permit. The promise is still rides “in 2026”.
- Gemini in Google Workspace: skills inside the Workspace apps are still “delayed until further notice”. The Gemini app rollout is still due to finish by mid-November.
- Vertical’s Valo: nothing new on the date, which is still 2029. Its review of “strategic alternatives” hasn’t reported back.
Not orderable, still
- Tesla FSD: on 26 October Tesla Europe said the system was “Now approved in Latvia”, which Tesla North counts as the tenth European country. An EU-wide vote isn’t expected before December. Britain isn’t in the EU system, and we have found no record of Tesla applying here.
- Android XR glasses: a SammyFans report, citing no named source, says Samsung’s glasses will go on sale in mid-December in South Korea and the US only, and that the UK isn’t in the first phase. That’s a rumour, and it contradicts an earlier report of a November launch. Neither Samsung nor Google has announced a date, a price or a country list.
- Tesla Optimus: no third-generation unveiling yet, and no demonstration video.
- Figure 03, Neuralink: nothing new for the UK. We checked.
That’s the board for this week. If you were promised a robot in October, you’re in good company. See you next Tuesday at 7am.
