Specs are Snap’s augmented reality glasses, the first version of its Spectacles sold to the public rather than to developers. All the computing happens in the frames, with no pocket puck or cable, which sets them apart from Meta’s VR Glasses. TechCrunch reports a 51-degree field of view, about 132 to 136 grams depending on frame size, and up to four hours of battery, stretched to 20 hours with the charging case. Snap opened pre-orders on 16 June 2026 at $2,195 with a $200 refundable deposit, and said Specs “are expected to ship this fall in the United States, the United Kingdom, and France”. The UK is therefore one of only three named launch countries. Snap’s site lets UK buyers reserve a pair, but it says the deposit “is not an order confirmation” and the rest is due closer to shipping. There is no exact date and no sterling price; any pound figure you see is a conversion, not a price. The autumn promise is in our Slip Index and runs out on 30 November. For a household, this is a very expensive first-generation gadget. For a small firm, it is one to try before buying, not to budget around.
